The Livestock Partnership

14th July 2016

Sally Baker and Amy Avery from The Livestock Partnership hosted a farmers meeting on 14th July 2016. There were 35 farmers who attended the meeting overall, with only 5 knowing their Johne’s status! The meeting was held on a nearby farm, where the initial talk was followed by a farm walk and a BBQ.

The key learning points of the event were to raise awareness of Action Johne’s and give further details of Johne’s disease itself. This raised a lot of questions as to what farmers can do and how they can improve their farm management to eradicate Johne’s disease. This event raised interest to getting control of Johne’s with lots of Beef clients wanting to have an increase in testing, and to get an Action Johne’s Control Strategy in place.
